Analysis Of Photos 2: Location 2

For this location i wanted to use a somewhat 'dirty' background like my photo inspirations, as i really emphasises the rock feel to the image. For this photoshoot i enhanced the rock image of my model by adding red lipstick to add a sex appeal. I also changed her outfit to studded leggings and a studded leather jacket which really portrays an indie/rock theme. I also changed her hair slightly and added a bow to make a clear difference between the different looks to create versatility so my consumer does not get bored.

I really like this image as the background and outfit create a really rock themed image. Also the props reinforce the talents of this artist highlighting the fact she is a singer. No eye contact is connected with the reader from the image but this isn't necessarily important for this image as i would not use it on my contents or front cover and would therefore be a good image to use on my double spread. The models hair is in perfect condition her so portrays the pop side to her, which in the story she used to be a pop singer, yet her make-up and clothes represent the new side to her so therefore i feel this would go nicely in the double page spread.
I love this image of the model as i think her pose reveals sexiness and attitude typical of an indie/rock music fan. This would appeal to both men and women, men as they would think the model looks sexy and women as they would aspire to look like this. I also like the way her shoes are clearly on show adding that crazy unique element which indie/rock fans will like as they generally aspire to stand out from the crowd. However a major fault to this image would be that the background does not provide the mise en scene i wanted. The key element to this location was the dirty fence yet this is hardly in the image, the background consists of the side to a house making the picture look unprofessional and cheap, therefore if i was going to use this image i would need to cut the background out using photoshop.
I like his image as i like the models pose, i feel it is bursting with attitude. Also the outfit is clearly on show to help enforce that indie rock theme and to show its fashionable aspect . As part of the models belly is on show, it connotes confidence within the model making the image appear sexy. However again the background ruins the photo as it takes to much attention away from the model and on the background as there are too many things in sight, such as the sky, the gravel and the corner of the bin, again making this picture appear unprofessional.
This is my favourite image of these photos as i feel the model looks stunning and therefore captivates the readers attention. The lighting from the sun makes the models face look bright and therefore the first thing the consumer will notice. Her positioning is quirky with one leg positioned against iron bars, effective as an indie/rock music fan will prefer to see something out of the norm as oppose to an image that is boring. Also the bold statement shoes are on show creating a quirky aspect to image will catch the consumers attention if looking at/through a magazine. Due to the size of this image it would be more suitable on a double page spread yet there would be space issues concerning where to position the text. The mise en scene for this photo is great as it presents that dirty image inspired from my photo inspirations, yet also an element of rebellion through the iron bars.

This was another one of my favourite images as again the lighting from the sun makes the model look perfect. Her perfect complexion is emphasised due to the light making her appear perfect which is not particularly what an indie/rock audience would want to see as they like to look imperfect, yet this aspect of the photo draws attention from the consumer to her pretty features. I like the pose as again it presents attitude which a indie/rock music fan will stereotypically relate to and the background is effective in making her look like she is in a dirty place, which again is inspired from my photo inspirations which the majority of them look as if there photo shoot has been taken in a dirty environment, adding to that dark, rebellious theme.

Analysis Of Photos 1: Location 1

After taking many photos of my main model it is essential to analyse the best ones in order to use the best photo possible for a successful magazine. Below i will anaylse good and bad points about the best group of the three different sets of photos i took.

Location 1
For this location i feel an essence of rock glamour is portrayed through the style of the model. The outfit is fashionable yet dark and edgy so fits in with the rock theme but also would attract one off buyers. The mini skirt with studs shows the models longated legs attract a mal
e audience who would most probably find this image sexy and a female audience who would aspire to look like the model due to her good looks. The mise en scene of the photo is suttle suitable for a more mature target audience yet the striped background adds edginess and keeps in tune with the indie/rock theme and therefore would be perfect for my magazine.

I really like this close up image as i feel the eyes of the model are striking and would really compel the reader to be fixated on her. This would be good on a front cover as it contains the essential eye contact element, however i have taken the picture very closely and the background would not leave any space for the masthead and text that also needs to go on the front cover. The models expression is very serious creating a seductive look as well as portray a woman with attitude. This look is good for an indie/rock magazine as indie/rock music fans would prefer to see something serious and intimidating as oppose to something cute and smiley.
I like this image as the camera angle forces the model to look dominating and powerful which is good for a magazine cover as it makes the audience look up to her. Also the models face is smiling which takes some of the darkness away from the look and adds a gentle side to the image, yet this may not be suitable for my target audience as they would most probably want to see something typical of a rock/indie look such as a model with attitude. This image would be good for a front cover in the respect that it's a medium shot, a shot typically used on the front cover of a magazine however the images has little space around, for example the models head is at the top of the picture and therefore there would be no space for a masthead or strapline.
This is image is great for my themed magazine, the way the model is biting the rope creates a sexy yet rebellious image. This is really in tune with not only the 'bad girl' image but also the indie/rock theme which thrives on rebellion and anger like portrayed in this picture. There are a few faults within the picture such as the left corner reveals wooden flooring which makes the picture look of a very poor quality. If i was going to use this image i would need to either fill that in on photoshop or cut that section out in order to make the picture look professional.
I love this image as it shows anger and wildness due to the hair being flicked back. The models hair looks very good in this shot and is really in tune with the indie/rock theme as a stereotypical indie/rock head movement consists of 'head-banging' and this is an action shot of that. I could not use this image as a front cover image, yet this would be perfect in either my contents page or double page spread as the models face is not on show and buyers may not be able to identify the model if the face is not clearly shown. This picture would be extremely hard to cut out on photoshop due to the hair being flicked up and therefore if i was going to use this picture it would have to go with other things on the page due to the vibrant background.

This photo is really effective especially for an indie/rock music magazine as the position of the model really creates a unique look, which indie/rock music fans generally like to be different and out of the ordinary. The models eyes again look captivating which really forces the consumer to look at her and feel in-touch with her. The faults within this picture include wooden floor showing which gives the picture an unprofessional feel, i would therefore have to either edit that on photoshop or cut it out completely to ensure that the photo looks professional.

This photo is my favourtie out of the set. I feel the lighting across her face and body allows the model to look striking and would really capture a buyers attention, important for my target audience as they said that the model used as the main feature for the magazine is important in attracting an audience to a magazine. Also the slight low camera angle used allows the model to look powerful and intimidating essential in portraying the importance of the model within the magazine.

Photo Shoot Plans

Photo-shoot Ideas

-For my main 'good girl gone bad' i will take several different photos in three different locations, with the model wearing three different outfits so i have a variety of photos and looks to choose from.

Location 1
For the first location i am going to have my model posing in front of a striped black and white canvas with white flooring. This look is inspired from the cheryl cole photo in my photo inspirations, i feel the striped wall adds a quirky feel the the image making it look unusual and therefore perfect for my target audience. The black outfit and dark eye-make up the model will be wearing will need a bright wall behind to make the photo more vibrant and stand out. For this location i will take a range of different shots mostly long shots and mid shots, as i feel this background and look will be good for the front cover as it will make it stand out against other magazines. Also the model will be dressed in a rock glamour outfit consisting of heels a mini skirt with studs and a black top.

Location 2
Many of my photo inspirations consist of the model posing infront of a dirty looking wall giving that bad girl look, therefore for my second location i am going to have my model up against a fence with iron bars near by to really portray the bad girl image and aslo through the dullness of the scene it will really keep in tune with the indie/rock theme. I will change the outfit to a more intense rock look as i am enhancing the background to a more rock theme. The outfit will consist of a leather jacket with studded black leggings and leopard print wedge shoes. The outfit will add the eccentric factor to this image making it exciting.

Location 3
For the third location i am going to have the model laying down against a floor of newspaper. This is my own idea and i feel is very in tune with the rock/indie image as it captures the artistic rock side and also portrays an element of rebellion within it. For this location the model will be wearing a dress with vibrant red shoes and a change of hairstyle to present a more girly image of the model. The model will be wearing more fashionable clothing as oppose to rock clothes to maintain that attraction of young women and also maintain the attraction of one off buyers who may not necessarily be interested if the photos look like heavy rock genre.
For the third stage of my magazine cover i added all text using the insert text tool. As my photo shop i was using did not have the font i wanted for my masthead i had to download it of a website called 'da font'. At first i was going to print screen however i did not want the white background behind it that i would have had too if i print screened. I inserted tag lines for each story in order for the front cover to look more exciting and make it look like the magazine has a wide content.

Second Stage Of Front Cover

For the second stage of constructing my magazine i added some more boxes using the rectangle tool in order for text such as tag lines to be put on the front page. For the main feature title i made the two black and white boxes opaque to make them stand out from the rest.

Photo Inspirations

These photos are all inspirations for my photography. My main story is 'good girl gone bad' and therefore these style photos would be really good for my story. For example Christina aguilera is a pop singer yet her new image is a 'bad girl' image dressed in leather and unconventional of a typical pop singer, this is what i need to portray in the photos of my model. All the outfits are edgy and contain an element of rock, yet still look glamours and appealing this is also want i am aspiring my model to look like. The make up is mainly dark eyes with a bright coloured lipstick which portrays the rock theme yet also creates sex appeal.
