Analysis Of Photos 1: Location 1

After taking many photos of my main model it is essential to analyse the best ones in order to use the best photo possible for a successful magazine. Below i will anaylse good and bad points about the best group of the three different sets of photos i took.

Location 1
For this location i feel an essence of rock glamour is portrayed through the style of the model. The outfit is fashionable yet dark and edgy so fits in with the rock theme but also would attract one off buyers. The mini skirt with studs shows the models longated legs attract a mal
e audience who would most probably find this image sexy and a female audience who would aspire to look like the model due to her good looks. The mise en scene of the photo is suttle suitable for a more mature target audience yet the striped background adds edginess and keeps in tune with the indie/rock theme and therefore would be perfect for my magazine.

I really like this close up image as i feel the eyes of the model are striking and would really compel the reader to be fixated on her. This would be good on a front cover as it contains the essential eye contact element, however i have taken the picture very closely and the background would not leave any space for the masthead and text that also needs to go on the front cover. The models expression is very serious creating a seductive look as well as portray a woman with attitude. This look is good for an indie/rock magazine as indie/rock music fans would prefer to see something serious and intimidating as oppose to something cute and smiley.
I like this image as the camera angle forces the model to look dominating and powerful which is good for a magazine cover as it makes the audience look up to her. Also the models face is smiling which takes some of the darkness away from the look and adds a gentle side to the image, yet this may not be suitable for my target audience as they would most probably want to see something typical of a rock/indie look such as a model with attitude. This image would be good for a front cover in the respect that it's a medium shot, a shot typically used on the front cover of a magazine however the images has little space around, for example the models head is at the top of the picture and therefore there would be no space for a masthead or strapline.
This is image is great for my themed magazine, the way the model is biting the rope creates a sexy yet rebellious image. This is really in tune with not only the 'bad girl' image but also the indie/rock theme which thrives on rebellion and anger like portrayed in this picture. There are a few faults within the picture such as the left corner reveals wooden flooring which makes the picture look of a very poor quality. If i was going to use this image i would need to either fill that in on photoshop or cut that section out in order to make the picture look professional.
I love this image as it shows anger and wildness due to the hair being flicked back. The models hair looks very good in this shot and is really in tune with the indie/rock theme as a stereotypical indie/rock head movement consists of 'head-banging' and this is an action shot of that. I could not use this image as a front cover image, yet this would be perfect in either my contents page or double page spread as the models face is not on show and buyers may not be able to identify the model if the face is not clearly shown. This picture would be extremely hard to cut out on photoshop due to the hair being flicked up and therefore if i was going to use this picture it would have to go with other things on the page due to the vibrant background.

This photo is really effective especially for an indie/rock music magazine as the position of the model really creates a unique look, which indie/rock music fans generally like to be different and out of the ordinary. The models eyes again look captivating which really forces the consumer to look at her and feel in-touch with her. The faults within this picture include wooden floor showing which gives the picture an unprofessional feel, i would therefore have to either edit that on photoshop or cut it out completely to ensure that the photo looks professional.

This photo is my favourtie out of the set. I feel the lighting across her face and body allows the model to look striking and would really capture a buyers attention, important for my target audience as they said that the model used as the main feature for the magazine is important in attracting an audience to a magazine. Also the slight low camera angle used allows the model to look powerful and intimidating essential in portraying the importance of the model within the magazine.
